[AUGUST 27]
I'm amazed I even managed to NOT wait a month before updating anything. Tumblr has ruined my attention span...srsly.

So...hello.

I'm a little proud. Little. Chos. I'm proud to say I'm sorta, kinda..maybe getting things in my life together now.

[EDIT/UPDATE:]
Apparently not...since I just said all those stuff because I finished a sketchbook. Right now, as I update this post...which is September 14, my life is still a mess, I'm unemployed, emotionally unstable still and just...lost.

That's it. Lost.

I have nothing else to add to that.

Here are some of the stuff I made the past few days I was gone. All of them are in tumblr. I got eaten alive by that place. Blogspot...save me...I need this.

AUGUST:

SEPTEMBER so far:

Well...thank God for SnK. It somehow got me out of a rut. @___@ Haha! Yaaay.

Just Kids

In the end we’re just kids, finding someone to hug in the dark
When unexplainable fears creep into the heart and soul
And just the thought of you close to me puts them all back to their places.
In the sea of darkness, through the waves of the sheets
Hopefully someday we’ll find each other,
Anchored in the arms of one another.
But floating in infinite bliss. - Just Kids, written by me.

D'aaaaw. I made a thing. I hope the mushiness of my personal feels are enough to compensate for the lack of posts in this blog. Ahaha.

I'm still alive for the nth time.

Hello.

I was planning on whining about my life for the past couple of months I've been away but let's not do that shall we? Ehehe! Lots of stuff to do, so little time. Why waste most of that little time whining and complaining, right? I'll just keep those for myself.

So what's happened? Where have I been to?

Work. Plus I'm having Carpal Tunnel Syndrom fears. So I decided to start training my left hand to be as good as my right hand. Just in case something happens...ya know?

It got me depressed to be honest. But I find fears a good thing. It keeps you on your toes and helps you take a step back and make plans. Or appreciate what you have right now...that sort of thing. You always need a negative to produce some positives. I guess this is God's way of calling my attention to stop being such a whiny little baby and just work and see that life is still okay and be thankful for it instead.

For six...seven days now, I've been doing daily sketches to train my left at getting better. It's fun! It's like taking a refresher course at some basics that you totally forgot and then after 17 years, you're seeing everything in a new light. It was awkward at first, I honestly felt like a kid trying to learn how to hold a pen. But it helped me love myself even more for some reason. Haha, weird right?

I guess it's more of, we tend to pressure ourselves for perfection, for excellence like how tiger moms are with their trophy kids. But when we realize that being harsh to someone who's still trying to stand on their own is actually not helping, we become more patient and gentle with them, understanding their situation and encouraging them to do their best.

It's a liberating feeling. To enjoy myself again while drawing. It's been so long, the corporate world has made me a hard person. Angry and bitter all the time, gasping and grasping for air, desperate to just find an escape.

I still have no idea what to do at the moment. Sometimes I'm losing the point of why I even pursued this career. I don't have anything to say anymore. But maybe it's more of being overworked anyway.

I'll post again soon when I have a much more clearer idea of what I'm to do with things.

If I can make a wish that can be granted right now...well I'd seriously wish for the opportunity to just draw like a possessed artist by his muse, relentlessly producing beautiful art until his dying breath. I think life is not wasted pursuing things that they love doing. And I really feel like I'm just wasting my time not doing the things I really give a frack about -- all because I need money to survive my daily life.

Choices, choices. Always with the choices.

Oh well! I hope someday I can show you nice things.

Have a nice day wherever you are. :)

Sepia Memories

Studies part deux
I'm narrowing down my options...sorta. Well to be honest, Basil's face never did change from the original design since his 2010 sketch versions. (I'll upload those some other time, eheh!) It's really mostly Serafina who's gone through a make-over. :)

A little fun fact, Fina's a teacher...Basil's an architect.

Anyway the style will eventually grow simpler. When I have more time, which I will have once I fix my time management issues tomorrow!, I'll go back to the traditional drawing board to get more feel to the whole thing. Guuuh I'm really pumped up for this, I love these characters more and more each day...

30     Then I was constantly at his side.
I was filled with delight day after day,
    rejoicing always in his presence,
31   rejoicing in his whole world
    and delighting in mankind.
-Proverbs 8
I feel pretty much like that! Ahah! -giddy- Anyway, it's 2am...I should get some sleepin'.

I poured out my heart and now I'm falling

around 2 hours worth of doodling. i've gone rusty :| boo
So...I just wanted to post my progress. Right now I'm just collecting some references and trying to get the feel/vibe of the entire thing. Eventually the style will probably get simpler so as to fit into my tight schedule -- since something of this level of realism will require me to not make simple tonal shading in the final output of the comic. Ahaah...

I really needed this. It's personally funny for me that I didn't really feel much for this story at first, but thanks to a good friend of mine, somehow he helped me gain some confidence to actually push through. Despite the doubts creeping in earlier this day...somehow doodling them out tonight has helped me love it all the more that, if I don't finish this around July - September, the failure will determine how much of a loser I am. LOL

I'm in Shizuku mode right now!!! Gaaaahhhh!!! CONCRETE ROOOOAAAADSSS~

Hello July.

Gosh it's been so long. :|

I've been in a very long slump, obviously. Somehow blogging has been intimidating for me these days. I'm not doing it for the joy of it anymore but rather to please people and all that. Not to mention how preoccupied I've been with work. So much so that it keeps me from my personal works, that when I am free...a tidal wave of ideas come crashing into my mind I just freeze. It's awful.

But at least now I sorta have a gameplan. Because I can't pass up another month not making anything worth showing. So here are a few things I've been busy with...plus some extra fun stuff I managed to get done at work:

Some works I did from April to July...the stuff I forgot to post. LAWL.

Aaaand some more recent work:

Yep, I'm doing 3D now...aha! But it's not maya...just this cool program that's mostly for matte painters called VUE. It's pretty great considering how less technical it is, it's the perfect program for me in my opinion since it's that wonderful mix of techy/artsy where I don't really have to fuss much about and let my brain bleed from so much technological terms.

To end this update, I want to inform you, my dear blogfriends...that I'm now seriously bent on working on a comic by the end of the month! I'm pretty excited myself! Wheeee, here's the first artwork for said "SecretProject_01":

Serafine
She's a character that's been playing in my head for 3 years now. I'm just so glad to finally start on it. I have a lot of 3 year old ideas actually. Hehe, I guess 2010 was my inspired year after such a long dry spell. Hm, now that I think of it...it's only recently that I managed to come up with another personal story! I guess my Muse visits me once every three years. Haha.

Anyway, here's a little study notes on the drawing
...for this painting I kind of wanted to give off the vibe of seeing her from a balcony or the second floor of a restaurant, library, hallway etc. I personally like those “stolen" angled shots of people.
Also I was trying this effect in painting where only a part of the subject is focused while the rest is kind of blurred out — without using the blur tool nor gaussian blur effect. Still poring through Sir Gurney’s book ‘Color and Light’ :)
I don't know if I've mentioned this on my previous post, but I'm currently frequenting tumblr these days since I'm sketching more often than doing anything serious with my life. But expect something great this July. I'll make sure not to disappoint! Wooooooooooooooooooooo!!
